Global average surface temperature in February 2015 was +0.79oC above the long term average, according to NASA.
This was 0.04oC warmer than January 2015.
The month was the second warmest February – behind 1998 (+0.86oC) - on the records maintained by the agency which date back to 1880.
Much colder than usual weather shows up clearly in the northeastern US and eastern Canada.
